The car, the car..

So, I started this week with a cold. A horrible head cold, where it feels like someone is squeezing around your head and nothing helps to relieve it.  Well, on my way to class today, after I dragged myself out of bed to go, my car started feeling like it was lurching forward and then smoke started coming out of the hood. Well, I freaked out and did what I always do when something happens to my car and I don't know what to do, I called my dad. After telling Dad what was happening he says in a matter-of-fact way, "Well, pull over!" and luckily I was right beside the Insty Tune.

Well, Carlus looks into my car and tells me that I'm going to owe $400 big ones to fix some water thing. So, I made him call my dad and tell him what was wrong, because as soon as he told me what was wrong it was in one ear and out the other. Carlus gives me the phone back and Dad tells me that he wants me to take the car to his friend, instead of getting it fixed by Carlus.

Well, I was too close to school to not go and too far away to walk. So, I had to call my best friend, who THANKFULLY has class at the same time as me and was on her way to school [thankfully she lives 2 minutes away from school], and she came and picked me up.  Well, now there was the dilemma of getting home or at least back to the car.  So, I called my boyfriend who THANKFULLY didn't have anything going on until noon and was able to come pick me up from class. So, he took me back to the car and followed me to drop it off at the guy my dad knows auto shop.  So, we left the car there and the boyfriend drove me back home.

So, I start studying for one of the two exams I have this week and my dad calls to tell me that everything the guy at Insty Tune said was wrong with the car is fine. The water thing is fine, but two gaskets on the engine need to be replaced and some of the hoses. Well, we told him to go ahead and do it, even though its going to cost $500 bucks now! Then, he called back later and said he found a pipe that was rotted and needs to be fixed that was going to be an extra $160!!

Well, needless to say I'm broken for now. The boyfriend got his birthday present and my car will be fixed for [hopefully] a long time! Even though today had a lot of disappointments, it couldn't have worked out better. I was able to get a ride to and from school, my car made it 20 minutes to the auto shop without have to pull over and its going to be fixed. It could have been much worse!

I'm so thankful to Shae and Sean for being able to come and rescue me and to my dad for being able to talk to that guy so I didn't pay at extra $400 dollars and still have to pay $500 to get everything else fixed. So, all that needs to happen now is to get over this cold and pass these two tests!

Wish me luck!!

Life Lessons

So, mom came up with this great idea to tell each other the life lessons we learn through the new separation.  Since we have never lived away from each other I'm sure there will be a lot of them.

I think the first one I learned was that I don't really like change. I think that really helped me. [Thanks, Sister!] I have never wanted to be the kind of person that gets stuck in a rut, or that can not accept anything changing around them.  I think that realizing that flaw in myself has already helped me to change it.

I am just going to go with the flow and accept each day one at a time. Nothing is permanent in life and everything can be changed. This will be a way to find out how well I can manage on my own. Which, is something that everyone learns eventually. I think I am ready for the task. I am a fairly independent person, so this shouldn't be too hard for me. I hope.

Once again I want to say how proud I am of my mom. She is moving across the state and starting something completely new. I admire her greatly.

I think that drastic changes in your life are really good. They keep you out of that rut! ;]
